The two new Mega MotU sets are on Amazon UK now and they're awesome.
This set contains the Land Shark. A popular vehicle for the MotU villains, it was a fun and easy build. It looks great and the colours pop nicely. Oddly this version has working rubber treads connected to it's jaw mechanism. I say odd because the original much larger vintage and recent Origins versions don't have working treads at all but fake non-moving treads molded as one piece each side and move about on wheels hidden under the main body of the vehicle. So for the far smaller brick toy version to go have proper rolling treads is curious and kinda cool.
The two mini-figures are both repaints but good ones in their own ways.
First up we have Battle Armour Skeletor (battle damaged) which is a minor repaint of the BA Skeletor that came in Point Dread but has the face paint of the Skeletor included with the much smaller Flocked Panthor set. Which is a great combo. The main difference now being the chest symbol is 'damaged' to reflect the gimmick of the original Battle Armour toys (which these figures are too small to recreate the mechanism of). He also comes with the same axe but also a purple power sword (though not a purple version of the Alcala sword shown in the earlier promo pics).
The other mini-figure is the much awaited toy/cartoon colour scheme Roboto, whom we go the mini-comic version of last year. I really like that first version but I was looking forward to this one too (I had the original toy as a kid) and he's great. The colours are really nice. And again the mini-figures are too small to replicate the gears mechanism the vintage Roboto toy had, the gears being painted onto the transparent torso actually looks pretty good to me and makes a lot of sense at this size. Working gears at this size, in plastic would be a complicated and fragile mechanism I'd rather not deal with. He comes with the same arm attachments as his first version and if you have both you can give either figure two of the same (since his left hand uses the same post too rather than the usual hand type of the mini-figures) but BE careful with these (and those attachments on Trap Jaw that use the same post) as the gun attachment for my first release Roboto broke off half of it's post still in his arm socket. I recommend using a hair dryer to heat and soften the plastic before swapping the parts around just to make them less brittle and prone to breaking. But overall yeah another great mini-figure.
This set cost me £20.99 and is another great purchase. :)
