Well I completed this guy fast… here’s my latest custom, a Halo Reach Spartan Mark VI!
This guy was a commission from someone on Reddit, Altho at the time of this post they haven’t responded so 🤷♂️.
Either way, this guy was interesting to paint. For this custom I was tasked with painting the new breacher chest armor that came with the haunted figure and now the customizer pack. Gotta say, this is the first piece I’ve been truly disappointed with from Mega. The details on the chest are kinda blotchy and somewhat difficult to keep after what can be up to 8 layers of paint. Even so, with a bit of love I was able to get it looking very nice. As well as painting the breacher chest I sculpted on the grenadier knees which was pretty fun cause there pretty simple. This figure did teach me that red is kinda hard to paint, probably should paint it over a grey primer but I think it turned out pretty good.
I got to paint some new amazing 3d prints this go round too. Only one of them I’ve painted before. The Mark VI helmet comes from @ls3d_printing, always a blast painting his helmets. I was barely able to keep the visor lines on it, so faint after the varnish. The prosthetic arm came from @dougie_d73, which is awesome! Pose-able prosthetic arms are what we’ve been missing and Dougie made an amazing one. Tried out a new method of painting on it to keep that mechanical feel of just drybrushing on. Slowly moving from my darker metal to the lightest. Now I just need him to make a Mark VII arm and a Mark V(b) infinite style prosthetic arm. Painting this figure taught me that reds kinda hard to paint, but overall I think it came out pretty dang well.
Paints used:
-sadly the captions too long for me to put the paint I used, ask me in the comments if you want to know
While I am disappointed in mega, I am very happy with the 3d prints I used which really finished the figure. Stay tuned next time for another Reach spartan but with an interesting color combo!
