Step one is base coat the figs and or vehicle.
Step two is metal detail
Step three is a dark brown for mud on the vehicle in areas mud would get attached to. Look up any sort of mud detailing videos as they cover more of the better color mixes and techniques. Then add a lighter brown or red tan drybrused over the dark brown paint applications. For figs start at the bottom of the leg and stroke up the leg upto the knee area for mud streaks from "walking and running through mud." Lighter browns would be for dried mud and darker colored brown for wet mud effect for my vehicles the color is for drier mud.
Due to @ShlubCustoms creating a space time continuum error I made this post due to him losing on making a mud effect tutorial correctly.
