I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a couple of the new Hijacked Ghost set, so I thought I’d throw together a quick review of the set for those who might be interested.
First up, let’s look at the parts. There aren’t too many decals or painted parts, aside from the shell/front piece, and the slopes used for the wings. The silver armour parts on the front part are removeable, though they’re shaped in such a specific way that I don’t think there’d be many other uses for them. Rather than having a brick-built base like previous Ghosts, the new one has a whole new single piece for its chassis.
Next up, we have the figs. I’ll start with the negative first, that being the Spartan. I’m pretty ambivalent about Spartans, so I wasn’t particularly excited about this figure, but I was hoping I might be pleasantly surprised by it. I wasn’t. Both of mine had an issue where the left foot is noticeably darker than the right, and the new chest armour is very thick and high around the back and shoulders, limiting the head motion and forcing him to always look down.
I have no complaints about the Banished figures. The brutes are identical to those in the mercenary combat set, and the classic grunt is the same as the one in the Skiff set. The Halo 4/5 style grunt is slightly different from the one seen in the turret set, with silver as its secondary colour rather than dark grey.
Overall, this is probably my favourite Ghost set so far. It’s the most figures we’ve had in a Ghost set in a long while, and all of them are good for army-building. The play feature isn’t particularly obtrusive, and the colour/design are on point.
