guys who cares what bungie called spartans. Lets really think of something that could make that quote better. Like "Spartans never die, but of course that's not true. But spatans never die........never ALONE"

No the Spartans came from Sparta hence the name they were very skilled warriors one reason that Halo called them Spartans.

@TheArbiter25 yeah but its saying there strong and everything the second leader that almost took over the word is Alexsander The Great, the first leader that almost took over the world is the Germans in world war two.

@TheArbiter25 yeah Alexsander The Great had Spartans, but they all died, if I learned something from a history RTS (Real Time Strategy) game they were first called Holitops if I remember right, or is that game Sid Meiers Civilization IV, anyways yeah Halo kinda stole the history name Spartan from the Greeks, at first I thought he was Roman, but he's not.
