My Halo 2 style Marines arrived yesterday (meant to post this today but never got around to it).
Not going to lie here; when I bought these I was about 98% sure these were knockoffs but I bought them anyway hoping I was wrong. When you think about it, 24 bucks for eight 8 dollar Marines is pretty suspicious. They didn't come with stands, backpacks, or guns, but that doesn't account for the roughly 40 dollar price difference between buying them all individually. The fact that these figures came from China is also pretty suspect.
However, I am please to report that I am now about 98% certain that these figures AREN'T knockoffs. Instead, I'm pretty sure that the seller just didn't understand the value of the almighty US dollar. The final nail in the proverbial coffin for the "are they knockoffs?" theory actually came from a relatively humorous source (at least to me anyway).
These figures have most of the common defects that figures from that time period that I know are official have, and they look and feel like official Mega (unlike the other knockoffs I have accidentally bought on eBay).
If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, we probably aren't dealing with a member of the Felis Domesticus species.
Bottom line, I got really lucky here and probably wound up with some official figures at a 40 dollar discount.
