Not wanting to let the opportunity slip, I decided to pick up five of them! I knew what I was getting because of the codes, but I still had fun assembling the figures! I'll do a little mini review of each figure here in the description, since I haven't done a 412 review in a while.
Grunt Mule: Probably the stand out figure of the series, the grunt mule is a enemy type I find really fitting for a grunt: Forced to lug around weapons in combat for your allies to grab from your back when they need them. This figure comes with quite a few new molds, such as the helmet, chest, and shock rifles!
The sculpt itself is quite nice for the Mule, the back pack board doesn't stick out too much and has enough decal work on the front to satisfy me. The helmet does get in the way of head articulation a bit, but grunts don't have much to begin with. My figure also has the new rubbery arms, which are meh in my opinion. The new shock rifles really add to the grunt's form, and I find it really fun to see what weapons I can stick to his back!
Spartan Hermes: With a unique color scheme and awesome mold, this version of the Hermes replicates the style of the armor seen in Halo Legends, though personally I think it pairs well with figures from Halo wars/3 rather than it's fellow Halo Infinite Spartans. The color scheme is really nice, being a sort of copper orange with white limbs, which looked way brighter in person than on the bag art! The mold specifically is the female torso, since this is supposed to be Kelly's armor. The figure comes with a gravity hammer, which I think is an excellent choice!
Elite Ultra: While we have had a few color variants of the Ultra already, this Ultra is rendered in bright cyan armor with yellow eyes, which is a really fun color for the figure if I'm being honest! What's even more unique about this figure is that he comes with the new three finger hand mold they'll be giving elites so far, and I think it looks perfect on the figure! Fittingly, this Reach figure comes with a plasma repeater, which is a really nice mold that I've wanted for a while!
Spartan JFO: This figure certainly stood out as much as the Ultra due to it's unique color scheme, being done up in hot pink. That's the reason why I picked him up, and I wanted another Reach spartan in my collection. He's my first JFO and the helmet certainly doesn't disappoint. His lower limbs are a dark gray that fits his Reach design well, while his shoulder armor is a pair of matching default shoulders.
His chest armor is the grenade vest though, which I don't know how to feel about since I already have the Heroes Gungnir and Operator who both have that same torso. It's nice they made the torso unique by only painting the vertical grenades, but I feel like another torso would have looked nice on the figure too. What does look nice on him is the Reach sniper rifle, which is a great addition to my collection of weapons!
UNSC Marine: Now this is a figure I was really looking forward to! Aside from the Mule anyways. The marines in the Infinite line are perfect army builders and this marine is no different, coming with a unique head mold originating from the Heroes Halsey figure if I'm not mistaken. Her hair is orange and aside from being missing at the tips, came out pretty well! The helmet is a bit of a tight fit however so be careful! The more interesting part of this figure are the arms, which are considerably thinner and a different mold altogether because the marine is female. I like it since it makes the marine even more distinctive than other marines! Unfortunately, the vest and baseplate of my figure were seriously damaged and beaten up, so I'll have to replace the vest with a fresh one. One final thing to note is the accessory with this marine, which is a Halo 3 style assault rifle with an Infinite ammo counter on it. I don't really know why this weapon was included with the figure, though I'm not really complaining. It's just odd.
And that about wraps up my quick overview of my Target haul! I might nab the green Fred to match the Hermes and get a hold of a normal Bulldog shotgun, but I'm also going to pass on the Chieftain and Micro-build Wasp. They're neat but they don't grab my interest. But I think that's it for this post, so until I post again, this is Justin, signing off!
