This suppressed Spec-Ops weapon addresses a gap in the UNSC armory in the official Halo lore. While you can stealthily sneak up on your enemy, once the first round flies from the barrel of your SRS99D-S2 Sniper Rifle, everyone knows you are there. And they know exactly where to return fire if any enemy were looking in your general direction as the huge sabot projectile leaves a contrail in the air. So much for stealthily taking out the guards so your team can infiltrate the enemy base...
So my Sniper Rifle System 103 Suppressed uses the same 4 round magazine loaded with similar ammunition. In this case the 14.5×114mm APFSDS sabot projectile remains the same but the brass uses half the propellant to ensure the sabot remains subsonic. This eliminates the contrail and greatly reduces the rifle report. While this cuts the maximum effective range to 1000m (less than half that of the SRS99D) and is less effective against energy shielded enemies, it's a worthwhile sacrifice to make when the element of surprise is crucial to mission. success.
The rifle began as a L3go sized MinifigCat near future sniper rifle. I created the suppressor from a section of plastic model sprue and replaced half the gun barrel. The original stock was filed down a little. The replacement Halo-style sniper scope was made from a section of the Mega Bloks v1 sniper rifle scope and an additional re-purposed MinifigCat part. The parts were all glued together with slow setting cyanoacrylate adhesive. Finally, the rifle strap is also a MinifigCat part. A few (somewhat sloppy) paint apps and several protective clear coats finished it up. These custom long guns together with the accuracy modded M7S SMG seen in the pics were made years ago. I mass produced a bunch of both at the time to equip our Spec-Ops units like Team Nightshade seen elsewhere in my MCX gallery.
